Hearthfields — 16 px top-down farming village tileset
A downloadable asset pack
A farming village overworld you can paint in Godot
Hearthfields is a 16 px, 3/4 top-down overworld in two moods, summer and autumn. Paint grass, dirt lanes, rivers and cliffs with Godot terrains, drop in cottages, fences, a bridge and a well, plant crops, and walk a villager through it. The gallery's walk loop was recorded from the example village that ships in the pack.
Free sample below: the summer Grass, Dirt and Path terrains, six props and a small Godot scene that paints a meadow with a lane. Open it and paint your own.
Plan a map first? The free Hearthfields Planner paints these terrains in your browser, saves and reopens your map, and exports a Godot 4.6 scene with TileMapLayers.
What's in the pack ($1)
Everything comes in summer and autumn:
- Terrains: grass/dirt, grass/path, grass/water with an animated shore (4 frames) and a two-level cliff with stairs. Corner-and-side terrain sets, so corners and single cells join.
- Buildings: modular cottage walls, roofs, doors, windows and chimneys; fences that auto-join; a bridge; a well.
- Nature: trees, bushes, rocks, flowers and grass tufts.
- Farming: carrot, pumpkin and wheat in four growth stages, plus tilled soil.
- Village props: barrels, crates, sacks, hay bales, a woodpile, a lamppost, a fingerpost, a bench and more.
- Villagers: a farmer and a baker, each with a 4-direction walk and idle.
Ready to use:
- Godot 4.6: TileSets with terrain sets, a fence terrain, prop scenes with collision and a Y-sort origin,
SpriteFramesfor the villagers, and two walkable example villages (summer and autumn). - Any engine: 1008 single PNGs and 1× category sheets with a JSON rectangle for every piece.
- Editable: 24 layered OpenRaster sources (Krita, GIMP) and a
.gplpalette. - Docs: README with painting steps, licence, provenance and changelog.
Tested, and the limits
- Godot 4.6.1 (Compatibility renderer, Linux): a fresh unpack loads every resource; both villages run and the player walks with Y-sort and collision. Random terrain blobs paint with no broken corners when you lay the grass base first, as the README explains.
- The layered sources reopen identical to the sheets. Editing in Krita and re-importing was not tested.
- Left-facing villager frames are mirrored right-facing frames.
- Not tested in other engines; the PNGs and sheets are plain images.
